The uncommonly angled exoskeleton of Ocean Lofts for Miami Beach creates an entirely new silhouette and postural personification of a structure. Like Michelangelo's contrapposto expression in the statue of David, by throwing the visual statement of the building off of the horizontal and vertical axes, as well as the shifting floor plates the buildings take on a unique stance. Moving the primary structural elements to the exterior allows for each of the single floor loft residences to be almost free of interior columns as well as defining visually exciting abstract window patterns and sculpted faceted interior walls. The front and back structural connectors of the exoskeleton serves as sunshades for the expansive balconies for outdoor living, looking directly out to the Atlantic.
